The South St. Paul Public Library has an opening for a Substitute Assistant Information Specialist. Because this is a public service desk position, the ideal candidate will possess

Basic knowledge of computers in a Microsoft Office environment with the ability to help patrons with general software questions is required. Reference interactions and readers’ advisory queries may occur. The majority of tasks will concern circulation, but other technical and clerical duties may be assigned. Working at the circulation desk/return area includes greeting customers, checking library materials out to the public, collecting fines, issuing library cards to customers, answering customer questions using the Symphony system, checking in returned materials, arranging library materials on book carts for re-shelving, and unpacking library materials delivered by courier service.
This is an on-call position with no guarantee of employment that may involve evening and weekend hours.

Qualifications: Some college with library experience preferred, but customer service and computer skills are essential
Salary: $13.31 per hour initially ($13.31 – $15.85 range)
