Highlights

I live with my wife, Marilyn Sjotvedt, near Willmar, which is my hometown. Our son, Colin, graduated in spring 2009 from St. Thomas Law School. After attending college and working in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area for 14 years I took a reporter job at the West Central Tribune in Willmar. I served as editor for 15 years before leaving in 1998. Currently, I work in communications with the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency covering the state’s southwest region. I graduated from Bethel College in St. Paul majoring in history, and later received an MA in journalism and mass communication from the University of Minnesota. Over the years I have been active in numerous community and professional groups including Chamber of Commerce, United Way, Sertoma, Kiwanis, Ridgewater College, YMCA, Willmar Nordic Ski Club, Minnesota Associated Press Association, and Minnesota Newspaper Association. I enjoy and participate extensively in outdoor recreation and fitness sports. In 2009 I plan to have published my second novel, “Buffalo Ridge.”
