1. Combination of education (high school or GED) and experience closely related to the duties of the position to equal two years.
2. Preferred 4 year college degree in a related field such as Government, Social Services, Law/Paralegal, Library Science, or History.
3. Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite and Electronic Record Management Systems. Possession of or ability to obtain professional Electronic Records Management training within first year of employment.
4. Knowledge in government relations Working knowledge of Library Science and Archives disciplines
5. Ongoing professional development — education courses, certifications, professional memberships
6. Must possess a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
7. Able to communicate information and ideas in written and spoken English so others will understand.
8. Self-motivated and comfortable working in an independent environment.
9. Excellent organizational skills
10. Maintain strict confidentiality
11. On feet or standing 20% of shift
12. Must be able to life 40 pounds
13. General working environment temperature is maintained at a lower than standard office temperature due to electronic equipment temperature requirements in the shared workplace.

Job Description

Job Summary: Performs specialized records processing and scanning work involving cataloging, storing, and retrieval of records on an Electronic Record Management System, as well as physical records. Supports the mission of the Tribal Records Department and assists the Tribal Records Supervisor and the Tribal Archivist with research and special projects as needed.

Job Duties:
1. Performs specialized records processing and scanning work involving classification, cataloging, storing, and retrieval of records on an Electronic Record Management System, as well as physical records.
2. Catalogs records using metadata templates in an Electronic Records Management System. Assists in developing metadata standards.
3. Develop and maintain procedures and policies related to records scanning, classification, cataloging. Assist in procedures and policies for records storage and retrieval – electronic and physical records.
4. Assists in working with SMSC departments to establish retention schedules and standards for document management.
5. Customer service and change management assistance. Provides research assistance to Tribal Archives, Records Supervisor and Legal Department as requested.
6. Point of contact for records requests
7. Provides training and support to other Records Management System users as needed.
8. Other duties and projects as assigned.
