Position Summary: Seeking an experienced Public Services Supervisor (Librarian IV) to join our library leadership team. The Public Services Supervisor is actively involved in leading the reference, outreach, literature searching, circulation and interlibrary loan services that are coordinated through the Plummer Library, the Mayo Clinic’s largest library, located in downtown Rochester, Minnesota. This position reports to the Associate Director for the Mayo Clinic Libraries and supervises both professional librarians and support staff.

Responsibilities: The Public Services Supervisor (Librarian IV) is an advanced level position in the Masters-prepared professional Librarian series. Under minimal supervision, the Public Services Supervisor (Librarian IV) performs highly professional level responsibilities.

The Public Services Supervisor (Librarian IV) serves as a integral member of the Mayo Clinic Libraries’ Library Leadership team. He/she demonstrates initiative, resourcefulness, originality of thought and approach in problem solving; investigates and proposes implementation of new methods, techniques, procedures, and services. A forward-thinking, outreach-minded person who focuses on excellence in customer service is the kind of leader we seek. A professional who offers friendly, encouraging, mentoring, and collaborative supervision while championing innovation and proactive performance will fit this position well.

Contributes to the profession, either by working in professional organizations or through involvement in research, writing, publishing, teaching or another relevant creative activity.

Qualifications: Requires an ALA-accredited masters degree in library science or information management or other Masters or advanced degree pertinent to the position from an accredited graduate program required. An additional relevant graduate degree, or progress toward one is preferred. Requires recent professional practice involving three or more years experience with literature searching, systematic reviews and leading a library team.

Additional Qualifications: Membership in the Academy of Health Information Professionals program of the Medical Library Association at the Senior or Distinguished level preferred.

Compensation Detail: Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum salary every 2 weeks is approximately $2,257.60, based on a full-time position.
Hours/Pay Period: Full-time
Weekend Schedule: Typically works weekday, daytime hours with occasional evening or weekend hours.
