The Boulder Public Library District (BPLD) is in search of innovative and collaborative
professionals for several newly created positions. BPLD serves as a centerpiece of the
community, a destination for human connection, life-long learning, civic engagement, and
creative exploration. The organization is experiencing significant transformation, having formed
an independent district as of January 2024 and moving from a county-managed governing
structure to one governed by a Board of Trustees. Thanks to the overwhelming support of
Boulder County residents, the library is positioned to blossom and grow through dynamic
programs, new and upgraded facilities, and expanded hours and services. It’s an exciting time
to be a part of the Boulder Public Library District!

With this exciting expansion of services and facilities comes a need to grow their team. The
library is on the lookout for enthusiastic and service-oriented individuals to serve in these
positions:

Public Services Director (Main Library)
Main Library Manager
Youth Services Manager (Main Library)
Librarian I (North Boulder Branch, opening in June 2024!)

The Public Services Director (Main Library) will collaborate closely with other departments and
assist the Executive Library Director with the vision and mission of the library. As the second-
highest ranking employee in the organization, the Public Services Director may assume
responsibility for the library when the Executive Library Director is not available. Minimum
qualifications include: an ALA-accredited MLIS degree and a minimum of six to eight years of
experience working in a public library (or equivalent), including supervisory or managerial
responsibilities, managing multiple branches, or an equivalent combination of education and
experience. Hiring salary range: $117,395 – $135,824.
The Main Library Manager will oversee BPLD’s largest location, located in the heart of
downtown Boulder, and will lead the Main Library in planning, directing, and managing patron
services. Minimum qualifications include: an ALA-accredited MLIS degree and three years of
experience working in a public library, including two years of progressive responsibility, or an
equivalent combination of education and experience. It also requires three years of supervisory
experience and experience conducting performance evaluations. Hiring salary range: $70,970
– $78,957.
The Youth Services Manager (Main Library) is part of the Public Services Management team
and provides vision, planning, and implementation in children’s and teen services at the Main
Library. Minimum qualifications include: an ALA-accredited MLIS degree and five years of
progressive library and supervisory experience. Preferred qualifications include three years of
supervisory experience in children’s and teen services. Hiring salary range: $70,970 –
$78,957.
The Librarian I (NoBo Branch) creates engaging and dynamic programs for patrons of all ages
with a focus on STEAM and plays a critical role in overseeing daily library operations. This
position will be in the newly built North Boulder Branch library, which is poised to showcase
sustainability in architecture and provide transformative library services to a thriving community.
Minimum qualifications include: an ALA-accredited MLIS degree and three years of
progressively responsible experience in a public library setting, or an equivalent combination of

education and experience. Conversational Spanish speaking skills and/or working with patrons
from a variety of ethnic and cultural backgrounds is strongly preferred. Hiring salary range:
$60,008 – $66,726.
