Medical Librarian (PT) – Anesthesia Patient Safety Foundation (APSF), Rochester, MN

The Anesthesia Patient Safety Foundation (APSF) is an affiliate institution of the American Society of Anesthesiologist (ASA). The APSF’s Mission is to improve continually the safety of patients during anesthesia care by encouraging and conducting: safety research and education; patient safety programs and campaigns; and national and international exchange of information and ideas.

APSF is currently hiring a part-time Medical Librarian to work approximately 20 hours per week. This position is located in Rochester, MN.

Position Summary:
The part-time Medical Librarian is responsible for its evolving communication platforms. These platforms currently include the following: website, newsletter, and social media applications.

Position Responsibilities:
• Organizes the content of approximately 100 past and ongoing future APSF newsletters into readily searchable articles and letters within the APSF’s evolving website.
• Performs screening reviews of designated scientific journals and public media sites. Identifies articles and communications that may have useful perioperative patient safety implications to be shared by APSF’s social media platforms.
• Assists in improving APSF’s communications to anesthesia professionals worldwide, related or partner organizations, regulatory agencies, and national and international anesthesia societies.
• Collaborates with APSF’s website and social media directors, newsletter editors, officers, and vendors.

Position Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in related field required.
• Library experience required. Some experience in communications, public relations, and/or marketing is helpful.
• Experience in health care field and/or familiarity with medical terminology is preferred.
• Basic understanding of website and social media applications, or demonstrated ability and willingness to learn is required.
• Strong writing background and reading skills required.
• Computer proficiency with MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
