SALARY: $18.59 hourly minimum

STATUS & HOURS: Part-time, regular (approximately 624 annual hours) position. Hours may vary according to museum site needs. This position requires flexibility, and the ability to work a varied schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

BENEFITS: Eligible to participate in a retirement program with employer contribution. Generous vacation and sick time accruals.

DESCRIPTION: This position exists to provide leadership support in the areas of museum operations and programming.

SUMMARY OF WORK: 1) Coordinate after hours public and rental events by providing operation support and interpretive leadership; 2) Assist in development, implementation, and evaluation of evening and weekend museum programs; 3) Coordinate evening and after hour program needs for the interpretive staff and volunteers; 4) Serve as a liaison between all Mill City Museum operational areas; and 5) Participate in administrative and development opportunities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Strong human relation and leadership skills.

Demonstrated customer service and conflict resolution skills.

Ability to motivate staff and volunteers, work with interns, work within a team.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Knowledge of and sensitivity to diversity and accessibility issues.

Organizational and mathematical skills in record keeping and scheduling.

Flexibility, and ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Ability to stand for extended periods of time.

Ability to bend, crouch, kneel, reach, push, and pull.

Ability to lift 30 pounds.

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Previous supervisory experience.

Some college coursework in history, education, theater, or a related field.

Two years direct experience in museum interpretation or programming.

Knowledge of museum teaching and interpretive techniques, survey knowledge of Minnesota and Minneapolis history.

Knowledge of Mill City Museum facilities and operations.

Ability to calmly address unexpected issues that may arise during a shift.

Demonstrated comfort level in working with technology as may be related to museum operations, program delivery, and communications.
