General Information
Dayton’s Bluff is seeking a TA1 – Library.

Position Summary

Provide assigned paraprofessional-level media duties that are limited in scope and complexity.

Reporting Relationship

Report to the school principal or other program administrator.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications

One of the following:

An AA, AS, AAS (or higher) degree, or
Two years of study at an institution of higher education (60 semester or 90 quarter credits) which are applicable toward a bachelor’s degree, or
A passing score of 460 (or higher) on the ParaPro Assessment.
If assigned to a Special Education bus route, the following requirements must be completed within 30 days of being assigned: basic first aid, CPR and bus safety policies and procedures training. This required training will be offered by the District. Employees who have taken this training from the American Red Cross are required to show evidence of completion. It is necessary to repeat this training as necessary in order to remain certified.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Basic skills in reading, writing and mathematics.

Basic skills in keyboarding and duplicating may be required for some positions.

Ability to develop good relationships with students and staff.

Ability to be sensitive to the needs of others.

Ability to relate to students with warmth, friendliness, and understanding.

Lifting may be required by some positions.

Must be on time to the job everyday.

Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following fundamental duties:

Monitor student work and behavior during library time; promote a good learning environment by maintaining a quiet, business-like area.

Provide tutorial assistance to students during media center time as appropriate.

Check books in and out of the library.

Shelve books and keep other materials organized.

Schedule class time or other activities taking place in the library.

Ensure that library computers and other equipment are well maintained.

Perform other related paraprofessional level library duties.

Essential Functions
Essential functions are job duties that the individual holding the position must be able to perform unaided or with the assistance of a reasonable accommodation through the Americans with Disability Act (ADA) and the Americans with Disability Amendments Act (ADAAA). The essential functions are typical duties as outlined under Responsibilities.

Pay,Benefits, & Work Schedule
This is a 10 month position working 40 per week.

Salary and benefits are in accordance with the Teaching Assistant negotiated labor agreement. The labor agreement and salary schedule can be found at https://www.spps.org/Page/33566. The minimum rate of pay for this position is $15.30 per hour.
