Reference Librarian I – Fargo Public Library

The City of Fargo is seeking a full time Reference Librarian I to work at various Fargo Public Library locations. The individual is responsible for reference activities which include but are not limited to providing reference service to patrons, answering questions, and assisting patrons in selecting library materials. The Reference Librarian will provide work direction to Library Associates and Library Pages in the reference unit. The incumbent will manage a portion of the overall library collections, as well as oversee public service areas during weekend and evening hours.

This position requires a bachelor’s degree and one or more years of professional library reference experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient successfully perform the essential duties of the position. A master’s degree in Library Science/Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution is strongly preferred. Experience in developing, coordinating, and implementing special programs and events for teen and new adult audiences strongly preferred. Knowledge of young adult and new adult literatures strongly preferred. A valid driver’s license is required.

The starting wage range for this position is $49,067 – 52,083 per year depending on experience plus benefits. Employment is contingent on successful completion of a background check, pre-employment medical evaluation, and drug screen.
