Murphy Library at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse is a dynamic learning environment dedicated to the core principles of service, stewardship, information literacy and equity of access.
We seek full or part-time temporary Public Services Librarians for the fall semester of 2016 to work between 20-40 hours per week.
The position begins the week of Sept 5th, 2016. This is a great opportunity for an energetic professional to gain skills in an academic library instruction program.
Responsibilities:
● Teach library instruction and information literacy sessions to undergraduate classes in a variety of disciplines.
● Deliver research assistance to patrons at the reference desk, via phone, email, text and chat.
● Other duties and special projects based on employee skills and library needs.
Salary:
● $3,000/month for full-time
● No benefits
● Position does not lead to permanence
Required Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree
● Strong oral and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
● Experience with face to face instruction or program facilitation in a library or elsewhere (i.e. graduate teaching assistant at university level, K12 teacher, trainer).
● Experience with reference in an academic library.
● Interest in the library profession.
