Job Summary
This position is responsible for assisting the Archives and Special Collections Librarian with the management, organization, and implementation of the Archives and Special Collections services. This position also assists with the University’s records management program. Additional responsibilities include supervising student assistants assigned to the Archives and Special Collections area, digitization efforts, and providing direct service to Library users following established policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Ability to learn/knowledge of the Library of Congress and Superintendent of Documents classification schemes and other standard library tools sufficient to locate materials.
2. Ability to train others and develop training tools.
3. Familiarity with computer applications (Microsoft Office) and various types of office and computer equipment (ex. copiers, scanners, microfilm readers, etc.)
4. Good human relations; good verbal and written communications skills.
5. Ability to engage in detailed work for extended periods.
6. Ability to train and supervise student assistants.
7. Ability to work independently and collaboratively
8. Must be able to bend, reach overhead, and lift items weighing up to 50 lbs.
9. Must be able to push and pull carts of books and library materials that may weigh up to 200 lbs.
10. Skills to operate the Aleph/MnPALS online catalog.

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Knowledge of Aleph automated Library System and its subsystems.
2. Experience/knowledge of web page development
3. Experience and/or knowledge of Archival practices
4. Experience and/or knowledge of digitization practices in a library, archives, or museum setting
