Library Assistant (Children’s Services) – Cannon Falls Library

The Cannon Falls Library is seeking a dynamic, energetic, and creative Library Assistant to perform a broad range of library services specializing in developing programs for children. Activities include: conducting programs for children and creating promotional items to announce them; assisting the public with the use of modern technology; assisting the Director with community outreach; and contributing to the greater good of the library by supporting broader goals.

Candidates should demonstrate the ability to cheerfully and tactfully deal with a wide variety of people; strong organizational and time management skills; ability to design and implement fun, educational programs; ability to work independently and collaboratively; knowledge of library materials and the Dewey Decimal System; ability to perform clerical work such as using word processing, photocopying, emailing, and Internet tools.

Requirements: Minimum high school diploma or GED. The ideal candidate has a broad knowledge of childhood development, particularly in the area of language and literacy, has extensive experience working with children, and a minimum of 2 years of library experience.

Starting Salary: $20.15/hr, minimum 24 hours per week.
