The Wescott Library is currently seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Adult Services/Technology Librarian with strong customer service and creative problem-solving skills to work with all ages in the library’s iLAB makerspace, to develop technology and creative programming for adults, to reach out and build relationships with adults and organizations in the community, and to keep current with cultural changes and technologies. The Librarian will coordinate and recommend equipment, programs and services in Wescott’s iLAB makerspace.

Dakota County Librarians provide information services, reader’s advisory, and research services to assist library customers in finding information. Assist the public in the use of digital resources and provide technology instruction. Under general library policies and service frameworks, develop and work to promote library services and print/digital resources through the development and delivery of programs, general and technology instruction, community outreach to target audiences, and public relations. Work may be provided at the branch, or system level. May be responsible for selecting library materials in compliance with collection guidelines and budget constraints, user interests, and branch holdings. May be responsible for cataloging and/or management and maintenance of library collections in various areas.

Minimum Qualifications
• Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE BEYOND MINIMUM:
• 1-2 years of public library experience
• Experience working in a makerspace or with maker technologies and activities
• Experience collaborating with colleagues in developing a broad range of adult and technology programming
• Experience conducting community outreach and building relationships with adult-focused organizations
• Experience working with diverse populations and customers with limited English proficiency
• Bilingual skills

• Match customer’s needs with information and resources in the library, in a digital setting or in the community.
• Train customers in the use of digital or maker technologies.
• Promote library materials and services through written or digital formats.

• Build relationships and network with internal and external partners to fulfill the library’s mission and services.

3. Programming:
• Coordinate, develop and deliver library programs to meet the needs of a diverse community and target audience.

4 Collection Management:
• Maintain and recommend library resources in all formats to ensure the materials meet the needs of the community.

Work Environment:
The work is sedentary and requires no special physical demands. The work involves minimal risks and observance of safety precautions typical of office settings. The work is typically performed in an adequately lighted and climate controlled office. May require occasional travel.
