Lead Librarian – Thomson Reuters

Role Purpose:
Provides daily management/leadership at the content center site level, and initiates and coordinates the implementation of library initiatives.

Provides work direction to support and improve team functions, individual performance and work processes.

Design, create and implement library services process and procedures; purchase and maintain print and electronic resources; assure the development and deployment of the asset management system utilizing standard cataloging methods; proper organization and maintenance of material within a legal library organization; provide exceptional research and reference support for Thomson Reuters employees, and facilitate networking opportunities between library services and other Thomson Reuters employees.

Responsibilities
• Manages the content site team and assists in the accessibility of the 250,000 volume site library; uses proper collection development and retention rules to maintain collection throughout the content center site.
• Accurately shelve books in all library services maintained libraries, as well as shift collections on an ongoing basis, keeping libraries in order according to appropriate classification or archiving requirements.
• Ability to move and reorganize libraries as needed.
• Provides guidance to team members for the filing of the more complex loose-leaf materials.
• Assists in filing materials – pocket parts, advance sheets and loose-leafs with appropriate material according to library collection and retention guidelines.
• Conducts industry research and reference support to monitor and track competitive information; assesses need for external subscriptions for books and journals.
• Seeks approval for renewals from respected cost centers (emailing or calling approving manager directly); working within the required A/P systems to pay and reconciling bills in timely manner and contacting publishers directly for outstanding claims.
• Trains employees, leads in design, creation and implementation of process improvements for library services, coaches and guides the team on how to solve problems and achieve results; responsible for appraising and monitoring team members’ performance, and supporting team members’ ongoing development.
• Handle shipments – open boxes and remove shipments of books; place books on carts and move throughout building to deliver to customers.
• Work across content center sites in collaboration projects for library services.
• Work will contain asset management tasks; working knowledge of Thomson Reuters products, and internet searching; and extensive site and project leadership.

• Ability to locate, evaluate and organize large sets of data and information to find answers to difficult and complex requests.
• Proven knowledge of database management, Internet, Intranet and search engine technologies.
• Comfortable and efficient in using e-mail to correspond with our customers and the use of Microsoft applications (asking for renewals, responding to queries, providing research and competitive pricing reports).

Relationships: Internal / External
• Collaborate with Library Management for completion of stated Library objectives and accountabilities for self and leading content center site library team
• Assists all members of the library services team.

Certifications / Education
• Master of Library and Information Science, or Bachelor degree required with an emphasis in Library Science preferred.
• Master of Library and Information Science degree preferred.
