Basic Functions: Assist law library patrons (judges, attorneys and the general public) with obtaining court forms, using the library’s research computers and scheduling patrons for legal clinic.

Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Experience with customer assistance strongly preferred. Knowledge of court processes and court forms a plus.

Hours: This is a .20 position. Hours will generally be 5-10 hours a week with increased time when the librarian is out of the office.

Salary and Benefits: The position is eligible for proportionate paid holidays and sick leave. The salary will be between $15 and $20 per hour, to be determined by the Law Library Board of Trustees based on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Ability to provide efficient and effective customer service to law library patrons;
• Ability to work independently in an occasionally fast-paced environment;
• Skill in operating a computer and other technology including telephone, copier and printers;
• General knowledge of legal resources including court forms, websites, and statutes.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Analyze patron’s questions to determine type and amount of information needed and refer them to available resources;
• Maintain supplies of court forms for patrons;
• Schedule patrons for legal clinics and obtain all necessary information from them;
• Take messages when the law librarian is unavailable.

Work Environment: A professional office setting, involving walking and standing 1-2 hours per day, occasional bending and stooping when assisting patrons, lifting up to 15 pounds and occasional use of a step ladder. Daily contact with the general public from all educational backgrounds.
