Description
Hennepin County Library’s Special Collections, Preservation & Digitization Department is seeking a student intern for an archival processing project. Under the direction of the department’s archivist, the intern will work on processing portions of the records of the Hennepin County Library.

Location and hours:
This fall internship will be located at the downtown Central Library 300 Nicollet Mall, 55401. This is a 150 hour assignment that will begin January 25 and last three months, January – March 2019, 15 hours per week, with the possibility of extending.

In this position, you will:
Process a collection materials, including physical organization, boxing and foldering, and any necessary weeding.
Develop and edit finding aids.

Need to have:
Current enrollment in an undergraduate program or a recent May 2018 graduate.
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.

Experience:
Processing archival collections.
Creating descriptive metadata.
Strong attention to detail.
Demonstrated ability to perform successfully routine and repetitive tasks.
Ability to:
Communicate instructions clearly.
Learn work processes quickly.
Work independently.
Adapt easily to changing priorities and task assignments.
