Major Duties

– In consultation with the Head of Technical Services and in partnership with others coordinate and supervise electronic resources life cycle management including acquisition, access, administration, evaluation and renewal/deselection.
– Maintain accurate electronic resource records, including license and access terms, within the libraries management system.
– Develop, generate, and analyze reports for evaluation, management, budget, planning, and accreditation purposes.
– Coordinate the integration and interoperability of electronic resources and holdings data in a variety of systems such as Alma’s resource management knowledge base, Primo Central Index, databases A-Z list, EZproxy, Lib-Guides, and Google Scholar.
– Foster a collaborative team-based approach to problem-solving. Resolve access-related problems with users, Technical Services staff, Libraries and campus IT staff, and vendors as appropriate.
– Participate in collaborative interdepartmental planning, decision-making and problem-solving relating to electronic information provision.
– Assess and evaluate potential purchases, communicating directly with vendors as necessary about implementation, licensing restrictions, and compatibility with existing systems and platform interfaces.
– Develop high proficiency working with Ex Libris’ Alma resources management system and its Primo user interface to utilize these systems effectively and take appropriate advantage of enhancements.
– Develop and maintain knowledge of trends and best practices in electronic resources and serials management.
– Supervise, train, and evaluate electronic resources staff.
– Meet faculty tenure requirements and expectations including scholarship, campus and professional service and participation in shared governance.

Minimum Qualifications

– Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program or equivalent international degree
– One year of academic library or related experience
– Demonstrated post-MLS library experience working with technologies specifically involving electronic resources and/or related technical services.
– Demonstrated organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills
– Alma certification or ability to become certified in Alma within 12 months of hire
– Primo certification or ability to become certified in Primo within 12 months of hire
– Proficiency with major office software such as Microsoft Office or Libre Office
– Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
– Flexible working style and the ability to work collaboratively
– Ability to take a user-centered approach in providing access to electronic resources.

Desired Qualifications

– Experience working with Ex Libris Alma and Primo platforms
– Experience with EZproxy
– Experience managing and troubleshooting technologies related to electronic resources
– 3+ years’ experience in an academic library
– Meet the criteria of the NASIG Core Competencies for Electronic Resources Librarians
– Evidence of professional growth potential through publication, professional activities, or other contributions to the field
– Proficiency with SQL
