Job Title: Director of Training
Job Overview:
The role of the Director of Training guides the larger strategy and implementation of our training work. Working with the training team, they shape and build alignment between our organizing training cohorts, toolkits, and contracted trainings. This alignment is created to ground cultural and healing strategy and VRJ’s vision, mission, and values. An ideal candidate will be passionate about VRJ’s vision of training of “strengthening communities and movements through shared learning and training that uplifts the organizing, leadership, and visions of people working to achieve racial justice.” The Director of Training is also responsible for assessing the national landscape to identify new opportunities for our training work on a national scale. Due to COVID-19, this position is currently remote. It may require in-person work when it is safe to do so.
Reports to: Executive Leadership Team
Salary Range: $60,000-65,000

Duties & Responsibilities:
Build on the organization’s history of training and work in partnership with staff and outside partners to connect training with organizing opportunities
Coordinate the work, roles and responsibilities of the Training Team
Develop curriculum for trainings in partnership with the Training Team
Develop and lead trainings for partner organizations and institutions on a contract basis, contributing to the organization’s earned income stream.
Maintain a thorough and accessible library of training curricula and materials, updating as needed.
Co-create and integrate internal infrastructure for training including cohorts and contracted trainings
Work with the training team to support yearly training cohorts
Work with VRJ staff to support their ability to train and coach emerging organizers
Track alumni of all organizing training programs to create an alumni network that is connected to VRJ

Experience & Qualifications:
At least 5 years of experience as a Training Director or comparable role, including facilitation of trainings
Proficiency with MS Office (especially Word and Excel) and Google Drive
Experience with managing staff teams
Experience managing program budgets
Experience with program evaluation
Experience with popular education
Organizing background
Experienced trainer for racial justice
Background in creating training curriculum
Strong understanding of and experience with integrating healing and cultural strategy in training
