Rochester Beacon Academy is seeking a Literacy Lead for the 2025-2026 school year. 

Rochester Beacon Academy (RBA) is a 6th-12th-grade charter school that places a strong emphasis on providing individualized attention to students. The school has small class sizes, allowing teachers to provide students with focused and personalized instruction. RBA also has a special focus on serving students with special education needs, with close to 80% of the student body receiving such services. The administration and staff are dedicated to providing these students with the support and resources they need to succeed in school and beyond. A licensed Library Media Specialist (K–12) promotes digital and information literacy, collaborates with educators to enhance instruction through technology integration, and manages library/media center operations and resources

Your job responsibilities includes but are not limited to:

  • Deliver instruction in research, media literacy, and digital citizenship
  • Support classroom teachers in integrating technology and literacy into instruction
  • Manage and maintain library collections, technology, and digital tools
  • Curate and evaluate instructional resources to support student learning
  • Provide staff development on emerging educational technologies
  • Promote student engagement through reading initiatives and multimedia projects
  • Maintain compliance with ethical and legal standards for information access

Qualifications:

  • Valid Minnesota teaching license in Library Media Specialist (941000)
  • Strong background in information literacy, technology integration, and digital tools
  • Preferred: Experience teaching in a K–12 environment and managing a library/media program

Pay: Negotiable

  • School Year: .15 FTE during the academic year
  • Summer: Schedule and hours may vary based on program need
  • In person

Environment and Physical Demands:  

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting (books, equipment up to 25 lbs)
  • Regular use of computers and other digital devices
  • May need to move shelving, furniture, or tech carts
  • Able to perform light physical tasks required for managing a library/media space.
