Highlights
Kids often have lofty dreams! At the same time, many want to give up at the first sign of difficulty. It’s helpful for them to hear—and see—that a person who succeeded only did so after many failures. And it’s fun for children to experience that difficult path vicariously, through behind-the-scenes stories about my own dreams, failures, and creative process in writing and illustrating books. I include a hands-on art lesson with each presentation which requires only a pencil and one sheet of paper, but gives students (and teachers!) the ability to draw faces better than they ever have before.

Author Day: Presentations are hour-long, age-appropriate talks for grades K-8, either large assemblies or small groups. I’ll do three talks a day, or three and a half if you need to add a shorter session for kindergartners.
Bookmaking Week: this week-long residency is for one grade level, usually 3-5 classes, and includes an assembly day for the rest of the school.
Other: Conference workshops and keynotes, teacher in-service, community library talks, and family day presentations are also available.
