Temporary Science Research and Instruction Librarian – University of St. Thomas

Overview: The University of St. Thomas seeks a Reference Librarian I to support the educational and research missions of the University by providing research and instruction support in and out of the classroom.

Provide reference services to students, faculty, staff and community members in person and via e-mail, phone, and chat. Develop, prepare, and teach individual or small group sessions and workshops about assigned subject areas and research seeking tools. Teach students good research skills while assisting them to find materials.  Assist faculty in locating materials or information that support research and teaching.

This position is a 12 week temporary assignment beginning in the end of October 2016. This position is not benefit eligible.

Qualifications:

Minimum qualifications: Master’s degree in Library Science (MLS or accredited equivalent); and 1 year of relevant academic library experience including library instruction.

Preferred qualifications: Demonstrated knowledge of physical science and public health resources and research methods, including familiarity with MeSH, PubMed, Science Direct and other science-related databases. Strong interpersonal skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, and a user-focused commitment; maintain effective relationships with diverse constituencies of university and a wide variety of learners.
