Support & Training Specialist – Cataloging & Metadata – PALS

PALS Library Consortium Office located at Minnesota State University, Mankato has an opening for a full-time Support & Training Specialist – Cataloging & Metadata. This position exists to provide PALS customers with consultation, software support, training and documentation services to those using the Aleph system and other supported software. The incumbent specializes in the areas of metadata management, database quality control and cataloging. Working with our customers and vendor representatives, this position will play a key role in data mapping for the migration to the next library system.

The required qualifications for this position are as follows: Master’s Degree in Library Science; Significant library experience; Extensive knowledge of library automation systems and metadata standards including MARC; Excellent written and oral communication skills; Ability to speak in public and make presentations; Analytical thought processes and problem-solving abilities; Effective instructional skills; Ability to work in teams; Ability to work and learn independently; Ability to travel.
