THE POSITION
Are you looking for a great internship opportunity to learn about managing marketing, media and promotional initiatives? If yes, we have a great learning opportunity for you at the Anoka County Library. We are seeking a Media Relations Intern who will help assist the Community Engagement Manager with day-to-day responsibilities.

This is an unpaid internship; however, the hours and days of week are flexible. The internship will be at the Library Administration Building, in Blaine. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Public Relations
• Building and maintaining media lists
• Drafting and editing copy for press releases, newsletters, and other media materials
• Reviewing incoming HAROs and Google Alerts
• Tracking all press coverage, clipping press hits, and creating monthly press hit reports

Social Media
• Drafting and posting Facebook posts and tweets on behalf of Anoka County Library
• Writing and editing website articles as needed

Marketing
• Maintaining events/awards/speaking engagement calendars for management team
• Researching industry trends and staying up-to-date on current events
• Drafting web copy, brochures, and other marketing materials
• Contributing toward strategic positioning and messaging documents

Other:
• Attending meetings and taking notes
• Additional tasks as needed

Required Skills:

• Database management experience
• Social media savvy

• Proficient in multi-tasking, organized, and keen attention to detail
