Reference & Instruction Librarian – Waldorf University (IA)

Waldorf University has an immediate opening for a Reference & Instruction Librarian.  As a part of a library staff, this librarian will work in collaboration with library and departmental faculty, and is responsible for designing, teaching and promoting information literacy across the curriculum.  This librarian will serve as a liaison to several departments and is responsible for collection development in assigned subject areas.  This is a full-time, 12mo, benefit eligible position.  Compensation will be $34-36,000/yr depending on experience and/or education.  This position requires rotating evening and weekends when residential classes are in session. Position to begin as soon as possible.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and schedule library instruction activities;
  • Plan, implement, market, and evaluate the Library’s instructional program;
  • Selects, compiles, and organizes library materials;
  • Serve as the contact person and faculty liaison for inquiries for the Humanities departments;
  • Collaborate with others and work individually to produce a variety of informational and instructional materials;
  • Collaborate with classroom faculty to integrate informational competencies into the curriculum;
  • Review curriculum and reach out to teaching faculty to expand the instruction program;
  • Develop, coordinate and implement workshops and instructional opportunities for the University community;
  • Explains and demonstrates the use of reference resources in order to show procedures for library materials usage;
  • Recommends and suggests procedural changes of library operations in order to improve efficiency
Requirements
  • Master of Library Science from an ALA accredited school required
  • Experience or education which demonstrates knowledge of ACRL’s Information Literacy Competency Standards for Higher Education
  • Experience with a wide range of traditional and electronic library resources
  • Excellent communication skills in oral and written English
  • Background in the use of library technologies
  • Appreciation of the scholarly mission of the faculty
  • Interest in pursuing professional involvement and activities
Preferred
  • Experience working in an academic library setting
  • Undergraduate degree in Humanities area
