Reference & Instruction Librarian for the Sciences – University of Dubuque, Iowa

The University of Dubuque is a growing faith based University that is seeking a Reference & Instruction Librarian for the Sciences in the Charles C. Myers Library. Primary Responsibilities:
  • Develop a relevant collection for science and health sciences programs in collaboration with the teaching faculty, including graduate students in the PA program
  • Develop, teach, and assess the information literacy program for science and health care programs in collaboration with the teaching faculty in those disciplines and other librarians
  • Participate in developing, teaching, and assessing the information literacy program in the Core Curriculum
  • Provide reference assistance for students, faculty, staff, and others, including one evening per week
  • Participate in library strategic planning and relevant committees
  • Take part in the life of the University of Dubuque community through committee work and other academic and social opportunities
  • Participate in the profession of librarianship locally, statewide, and/or nationally
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the University’s mission
Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree is required; MLIS or equivalent
  • Demonstrated ability to excel in teaching
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current trends in information literacy, educational technology, creative pedagogy, and higher education
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills, including troubleshooting technical problems
  • Able to manage change, work independently, and collaborate both within the library and UD community to provide excellent service in a dynamic environment
  • Preferred: Academic library experience, information literacy programs & reference work, and knowledge of a science or health science subject area
