DESCRIPTION:
The Minnesota State Law Library is pleased to announce an opening for a Public Services Librarian. This is a permanent part-time position working 25 hours a week performing professional library work. Work involves responsibility for performing a wide range of professional library tasks and may involve providing work direction to paraprofessional, interns or clerical employees. Work is performed independently under the general supervision of a Library Division Supervisor.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:
• Provide reference service for at least two 4 hour shifts per week. This may include live chat and off-site locations.
• Coordinate and prepare for review Minnesota Justice Series volumes.
• Oversee and coordinate the library’s overdue book functions.
• Provide backup to the library’s inter-library loan function.
• Work on other special projects, as needed.
TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Experience performing print and online legal research
• Ability to work with a diverse group of patrons
• Self-motivated and detail-oriented
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited school is required (or MLIS/MLS candidate with a Juris Doctorate).
• At least 1-3 years law library experience is required. Professional experience is preferred.
• Candidates with a J.D. will be strongly preferred.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION:
SALARY RANGE: $22.41- $34.78 per hour.
