SALARY: $19.03 hourly minimum

STATUS & HOURS: Full-time, regular (approximately 2,088 annual hours) position.

DESCRIPTION: This position exists to assist in the delivery of core program activities for the National History Day in Minnesota program. The incumbent will provide direct support to the general administration and delivery of all History Day program activities, provide classroom support services to classrooms across the Twin Cities area, facilitate data management, support Regional and State contest planning; and support Minnesota History Day’s social media channels.

SUMMARY OF WORK: 1) Participate in the History Day contest cycle from local to state involvement; 2) Participate in the recruitment of and outreach to schools, teachers, participants, and organizations; 3) Assist in program communication and public relations; 4) Support program evaluation, fundraising, and data tracking; and 5) Participate in the identification and preparation of workshops, and curriculum.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in history, education, or humanities field plus two years experience working in education, program delivery, program development, curriculum development, or data management, or equivalent.

One to two years as a professional in an education setting.

Effective communication skills, including ability to write clearly and concisely and effective oral communication with individuals and groups.

Demonstrated ability to work both collaboratively and independently to complete projects.

Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse groups and individuals.

Computer skills necessary to develop quality project and program documentation.

Ability and willingness to travel. Valid driver’s license.

General knowledge of Minnesota and United States history.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Two years previous experience as some form of participant in the History Day program.

Previous experience with social media strategies and posting.

Previous experience with tracking data, basic finance management, and sales.

Experience with website editing (Drupal).

Language skills outside of English.
