The Dakota County Library System is seeking a motivated and organized individual to fill the Program and Information Assistant position which performs communications duties with a major focus on composing and organizing engaging content for print, online, and social media platforms. The incumbent will work with a team of adult and youth services staff under the supervision of the Deputy Director to promote Dakota County Library’s programs and services. This position partners with Library Administration, County Administration and County Communications to maintain a unified internal and external voice for Dakota County libraries through various communication media.
Minimum Qualifications

• Associate Degree AND
• Two year of office, communications, or desktop publication experience.
OR
• An equivalent combination of education and experience to total 3 or more years.

PREFERRRED QUALIFICATIONS BEYOND MINIMUM REQUIRED:
• Strong oral and written communications skills
• Basic knowledge of Adobe InDesign templates
• Basic knowledge of print, online, and social media platforms

Duties & Responsibilities
These examples do not include all possible tasks in this work and do not limit the assignment of related tasks in any position of this classification. Regular attendance according to the position’s management approved work schedule is required for all positions.

1. Assembles, organizes and delivers content for library’s print publications, social media and website according to project timelines.
• Assembles, organizes, and delivers content from subject matter experts and event calendar software.
• Proofreads and edits documents for accuracy and quality.
• Update documents, and signage using templates created in Microsoft applications and desktop publishing.
2. Assist with planning and execution of marketing activities to promote Dakota County Library services and programs.
3. Work with County Communications to keep their web content up-to-date for library’s website. Write engaging content for library’s social media, (i.e. Facebook and Twitter).
4. Manages documents and community contact list and distributes publications according to department guidelines.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities and Work Environment
• Knowledge of English, grammar, punctuation and spelling
• Skills in operating PCs, scanners, printers and other office equipment
• Skills in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Publisher, etc.
• Skills in using desktop publication software
• Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers
• Ability to work cooperatively in a team-based environment
• Ability to manage time effectively and adhere to deadlines

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is primarily sedentary and is usually accomplished while incumbent is comfortably seated at a desk or table. Some walking and standing may occur in the course of a normal workday. Items carried typically are light objects such as briefcases, notebooks, and data processing reports. Lifting of moderately heavy objects is not normally required.
