Hennepin County Library (HCL) is seeking a Preservation Project Worker to work in the Special Collections, Preservation, and Digitization Department. This position will create preservation enclosures for a collection of plat books and property tract ledger books. This is a limited duration (temporary) part-time, non-benefit earning position that will work approximately 20-30 hours per week for a duration of up to six months, not to exceed 365 hours.

This position is located at Minneapolis Central Library in downtown Minneapolis.

The primary duties and responsibilities of this position include:
• Create phase boxes and labels for plat books.
• Create plastic sheeting enclosures for tract ledger books.

Best Qualified Candidates will have:
• One of the following:
– One year of office clerical experience.
– Six months of office clerical experience and completion of the Career Connections Office Specialist Pathway Training program.
– Completion of the Career Connections Public Sector Office Administration or Health Advocate Pathway Training program.
• Experience in book preservation helpful, but not required.
• Experience repairing or creating enclosures for books or other paper-based materials.
• Strong written and communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to:
– Successfully perform routine and repetitive tasks.
– Follow detailed instructions.
– Lift and carry up to 40 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
– Work independently with minimal direction.
– Stand for extended periods.
