Join our Department of Evaluation and Research team as a Museum Evaluator and help us to engage participants in data collection, lead data processing work (storage, entry, and cleaning), and collaborate with project teams to analyze data and share findings.

Work Environment & Schedule: Most often, it is a combination of computer work, attending meetings, and collecting data from the public; however, an entire shift may be entirely devoted to any of these activities. While work hours and site are flexible, most work is conducted between the hours of 8am and 7pm at the museum. Occasional off-site work may be required. Ability to work regular weekend hours may be required.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Conduct evaluation and research:
• Approach and engage potential participants in data collection in a way that develops rapport while following protocols and human subjects research guidelines.
• Support evaluation and research studies, which includes developing an understanding of context, supporting instrument piloting and development, conducting data collection, leading data entry, conducting quantitative and qualitative analysis, creating data visualizations, and reporting findings.
• Use appropriate tools, software, piloting strategies, and other professional practices and expertise to complete work.
• Support studies using theory and practice that include and amplify voices from individuals and communities that might not be regularly heard or represented.
• Provide customer service as needed to support a positive experience for museum and museum program attendees, by listening to them, assisting them in wayfinding, and connecting them with others to help resolve issues.

Work with others to achieve large goals:
• Share understanding, insights, and practices from existing work in evaluation and research methods with project teams.
• Collaborate and communicate proactively, on teams inside the department, division, museum, and beyond, to achieve project outcomes.
• Understand, support, and contribute to department norms for collaborative work through existing and emerging structures.

Disseminate broadly:
• Share findings, ideas, and methods from evaluation and research work with participants (as appropriate) and within the museum.

Other:
• Approach all work with the assumption that you may need to learn new skills to accomplish your job.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
• High school diploma/GED or equivalent.
• Experience approaching and developing rapport with people consistently while in a formal role (through work or volunteering).
• Experience effectively using software that organizes data, as well as ability to learn new functions and programs.
• Experience gathering data from people (such as through a survey, observation, interview, focus group, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications:
• Cultural competency and experience working with diverse communities.
• Willingness to be open and respectful of all backgrounds.
• Fluency in language(s) other than English valued (Hmong, Somali, Spanish).

Starting salary: $14.43+ hourly / Depending on Qualifications.
