A retired English teacher, Ann Marie lives on a wilderness lake in northern Minnesota. She has published numerous columns and articles in both local and national publications as well as three books. Britta’s Journey~An Emigration Saga (2004) recounts the emigration of a family that settled near her home; Istanbul’s Bazaar Quarter, Backstreet Walking Tours (2009) is a volume of walking tours through Istanbul; and You must only to love them, Lessons Learned in Turkey (2016) is a self-published memoir of her years teaching in Turkey.

  “Discover YOUR family’s journey”. Through examples from her middle-grade novel, Britta’s Journey, an Emigration Saga, Ann Marie will share her own research for the book and guide her young audience through resources and interview techniques for exploring their own family’s journey to America.

A Vicarious Visit to Istanbul” Ann Marie spent seven years teaching in Istanbul, exploring the country and falling in love with its people. Her presentation includes information about this Muslim country, couched in a slide show to help open people’s eyes to a fascinating and friendly country.
Fees: 
I ask $200 a day plus mileage from Grand Marais. If I have to stay overnight somewhere other than the Twin Cities, I also ask for either housing or motel costs.
