Hennepin Schools’ philosophy is not simply that all children can learn, but more importantly, that all children will learn. To achieve that we are seeking hard working professional educators, who have experience with core knowledge sequence, classroom management instruction strategies, and have a valid Minnesota teaching license to join our team for 2022-23 school year. Your Job:

As a Media Specialist teacher at Hennepin Schools, it is your responsibility to create and maintain a classroom that supports our mission to:

Ø Provide a safe, nurturing and cooperative learning environment where children discover their personal and academic strengths

Ø Cultivate a sense of respect and responsibility

Ø Create a sense of social awareness and a social bridge to the broader community

Ø Provide a curriculum that leads each child to educational success and closes the achievement gap

Ø Instill self-esteem, confidence and a positive attitude in every child

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Ø Uses MN State Standards to write appropriate lesson plans and adaptations

Ø Integrates school-adopted curriculum into coherent lessons designed to maximize every student’s potential

Ø Conducts data driven targeted interventions in reading and mathematics

Ø Participates in all team-wide planning meetings and PLCs

Ø Understands and implements school-wide PBIS Discipline Policy and how it relates to all students

Ø Other duties as assigned

 

Skills & Qualifications and Requirements:

Ø Bachelor’s Degree

Ø K-12 Media license

Ø Ability to interact well with internal staff, students and parents

Ø Strong behavior management skills

Ø Strong literacy content knowledge in a balanced literacy framework

Ø Experience working with students of color

Ø Detail oriented, flexible and able to multitask

Ø Professional demeanor and appearance with a positive attitude and a sense of humor

Ø Excellent planning and organizational skills

Ø Self-motivated, proactive and resourceful in the completion of work assignments

Ø Sense of accountability and ownership for work results

Ø Knowledge of the following computer applications: Smartboard Notebook, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Ø Ability to maintain status of “not disqualified” upon completion of criminal background and MN disciplinary incidence research

Ø Highly preferred bilingual or multilingual, Spanish or Somali preferred

Ø Highly preferred minimum of two years teaching in high-need school

Compensation

Hennepin Schools salary for this position is competitive and based on prior experience. In addition Hennepin Schools offers benefits plan that include medical, dental, life, short term disability, long term disability, PTO, Sick time, QComp goal bonus incentive and Teaches Retirement Plan (TRA).
