Job Description:
The Blake School is looking for a bright and dedicated Lower School Teacher Librarian to provide full-time leadership and expertise in our library media program for the 2019-2020 school year. The ideal candidate will have experience empowering students to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skilled researchers and ethical users of information when leveraging both print and digital resources. The teacher librarian collaborates with classroom teachers and specialists to design and implement the effective integration of information resources and digital learning skills into student instruction and to assess student learning. The successful candidate will have an extensive knowledge of diverse voices in children’s literature, a demonstrated ability to promote literacy among students, experience partnering with elementary school teachers, and the managerial acumen to administer library operations, collection management, programming and volunteer opportunities. Candidates must have an associate’s degree in library science or a related field; a bachelor’s or master’s degree, or valid teaching certificate or licenses such as School Library Media Specialist, are preferred. Blake is particularly interested in candidates who will enrich the diversity of identity, lived experience and thinking that makes a community strong and empowers students to engage across differences.

The search committee will begin reviewing applications November 15. Blake will typically cover the travel and lodging costs for finalist candidates visiting from out of town.
