Mobile Librarians

Janice Jaguszewski, a reference librarian at the University of Minnesota's Walter Library, will speak on "Mobile Librarians."  This innovative program seeks to move reference librarians out of the library and embed them in academic departments.  Janice has been an active participant in this experiment and will report on both the benefits and disadvantages of the program.  She will also offer some observations on how the program might be applicable in public libraries.

Cathy De Rosa, OCLC, will present the report Perceptions of Libraries and Information Resources, www.oclc.org/reports/2005perceptions.htm). The recently released report is based on surveys of information users across six countries administered by Harris Interactive on behalf of OCLC, and is a follow-up to The 2003 OCLC Environmental Scan: Pattern Recognition, the award-winning report that describes issues and trends that are impacting and will impact OCLC and libraries.
