The Libraries at the College of Saint Benedict/Saint John’s University invite applications for the full-time, benefit-eligible position of Library Technology Support Specialist.

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Instructional Technology, the Library Technology Support Specialist contributes to the library by focusing on delivering a seamless online experience to users. This position is responsible for working with the Office of Marketing and Communications, and IT Services to ensure that the libraries’ web presence is consistent with university style guidelines and technology policies. This position will also work with other academic departments as needed to update their websites. The ideal candidate will have experience with HTML and CSS and feel comfortable using a content management system. As a member of the Technology Services team, this position works with patrons to resolve problems in and between systems and uses good communication skills both in person and in writing to troubleshoot and resolve problems with a wide range of people. This position works with the Archivist and other collection curators on maintaining the digital library interface. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, be self-motivated, and be comfortable in an environment where technologies and systems change frequently. The candidate is comfortable learning new skills through self-directed professional reading, developing and maintaining professional contacts with colleagues, and attending professional development courses.

Responsibilities:

Work with the library UX committee and Reference Librarian group to keep the library’s website in working order. Develop an advanced understanding of how the website content management system, room booking system, vendor-supplied databases, Integrated Library System and openURL resolver integrate to create a seamless experience for patrons. Work with the Office of Marketing and Communication on website design changes to ensure the library’s compliance with the institutional style guide. (60%)
Update websites for any Academic Affairs department requesting assistance in concert with the Office of Marketing and Communication. (15%)
Update interface to digital image libraries. (10%)
Monitor and update web services to assure usability and accessibility across our varied library systems. (10%)
Other duties as assigned. (5%)

Qualifications:
Required:
• B.A. or B.S. with technical background.
• Advanced understanding of HTML and CSS.
• Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies and acquire new software skills.
• Ability to diagnose problems and propose workable solutions.
• High degree of accuracy and ability to work with detail.
• High level of initiative and ability to function autonomously.
• Ability to interact effectively and tactfully with members of the academic community
• Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and customs.
• Excellent time management and project management skills. Demonstrated ability to manage a complex workload, prioritize tasks and use good judgment in providing services.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in order to work with users at all levels within the organization.

Preferred:
• Supervisory experience.
• Library experience.
