RESPONSIBILITIES: Washington County Library is looking for a Library Technology Manager to help create the library of the future. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker who is willing to embrace and drive innovation, has a positive attitude, and loves all things technology. Tasks include establishing Washington County Library as a community technology hub, advocating for emerging technologies, and leading a skilled team of technology professionals.

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE:
Two or more years of professional experience assessing IT needs and developing plans to meet those needs
Two or more years of professional experience managing human, financial, and informational resources
Professional experience working with emerging technologies

HOURS / DAYS: 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Work schedules (hours and days) and location are subject to change based on department needs.

ANTICIPATED HIRING RANGE: $61,950 – $73,418 annually

JOB SUMMARY
The Library Technology Manager is responsible for establishing Washington County Library as a community technology hub, advocating for emerging technologies, and developing library technology goals and strategies. This position will lead a skilled team of professionals and oversee the day-to-day operations of the library’s technology division. The Library Technology Manager reports to the Library Deputy Director.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Establish Washington County Library as a community technology hub:
Develop and execute short- and long-range plans for appropriately utilizing and implementing technology for staff and the public;
Evaluate, recommend, and lead the implementation of new library technology systems, equipment, programs, and tools; and
Regularly present to the Leadership Team innovative ideas of how Washington County Library can utilize existing and emerging technologies.

Lead skilled team of professionals:
Supervise library technology staff and direct work related to applications and software services, data use and reporting, system monitoring, implementation, and web management;
Interview and make new staff recommendations;
Create and manage work schedules;
Provide work direction and review work for accuracy;
Provide assistance and coaching to staff; and
Conduct performance reviews.

Oversee the day-to-day operations of the library’s technology division:

Serve as technical liaison between the Library and the Information Technology departments;
Establish working relationships with library managers and staff to determine needs, define and resolve issues, and work with team to develop system enhancement plans;
Work with team to administer and support the library’s Integrated Library System (ILS), including coordinating upgrades to the system and diagnosing and resolving problems relating to the system;
Develop and coordinate technology policies and procedures for staff and the public;
Serve as a technology resource to staff and the public;
Manage vendor contracts and relationships;
Propose items for the annual budget;
Approve expenditures; and
Participate in various meetings, conferences, and training seminars on behalf of the library.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Work is sedentary in nature performed within the Government Center or satellite offices. There is a lifting requirement of 15 – 20 pounds on an occasional basis. There may be frequent wrist and finger manipulation due to high concentration of filing, compiling, calculating, or computer work. No special physical effort or ability is required to perform the work. Most work is performed in a normal office environment.
