Location: Northtown Library, Minnesota
The Anoka County library is currently hiring a library shelver, 30 hours per week, to assist library patrons and staff by keeping materials and facilities in good order. The initial assignment is at the Northtown Library, 711 County Rd. 10 in Blaine.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES (ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY):
• Shelving books and other materials in correct location, ensure materials are in good condition and the shelves are in correct location, well organized, and easily browsable.
• Overseeing shelf-reading for the Children’s collections.
• Processing current issue magazines.
• Assisting with opening and closing procedures.
• Help create and maintain library displays
REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or equivalent; 6 months’ library shelving experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge of: Basic library organization including Dewey Decimal system, terminology, and materials.
Ability to: File alphabetically and numerically; lift 30 pounds, stand, bend, stoop, reach and carry for extended periods; follow oral and written instructions; deal tactfully, courteously and effectively with patrons of all ages and with other employees; work independently.
Skill in: Basic oral and written communication skills; basic computer skills; aptitude for detail
Must successfully pass a criminal check.
SOME POSITIONS WILL REQUIRE YOU TO PARTICIPATE IN SKILLS-BASED TESTING AS PART OF THE SELECTIONS PROCESS. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION REGARDING THE TESTS WILL BE PROVIDED TO SELECTED PARTICIPANTS.
