Library Service Assistants:
We are currently hiring part-time (20 hours per week) Library Service Assistants to provide direct assistance to Library patrons from a very diverse community; this active position also facilitates the circulation and maintenance of Library resources.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES (ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY)
• Create and maintain patron records.
• Use computer system to manage movement of library materials.
• Assist patrons with technology, including scanners, computers, tablets, and e-readers.
• Provide information and instructions to patrons about library use and services.
• Accurately enter assessment and payment of fines and fees using an electronic cash management system.

REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma with one to two years of public service or customer service related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience; one to two years of experience with computers and cash handling are required.

Knowledge of: Numeric and alphabetical filing systems.

Ability to: Communicate and collaborate effectively; Learn and change for continual improvement; Deal with a varied work pace and variety of responsibilities; Maintain a positive, respectful attitude while problem solving and dealing with stressful situations; thrive working in an environment with a high volume of public service to people of all cultures and age groups; Operate a computerized cash register system; Stand, bend, stoop, reach and carry materials for extended periods of time; effectively prioritize work.

Skill in: Data entry, computer and electronic cash handling.

Schedules: (subject to change)
Crooked Lake Library: Saturday: 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.; e/o Monday: 11:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Thursday: 9:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Rum River Library: Monday: 11:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.; Tuesday: 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.; e/o Friday: 9:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.; e/o Saturday: 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. This position will be part of a Sunday rotation at the Northtown Library, Blaine, September – May.

Must successfully pass a criminal history check.

SOME POSITIONS MAY REQUIRE YOU TO PARTICIPATE IN SKILLS-BASED TESTING AS PART OF THE SELECTIONS PROCESS. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION REGARDING THE TESTS WILL BE PROVIDED TO SELECTED PARTICIPANTS.

GRADE LEVEL

Salary Grade: A007
2018 Full Salary Range: $31,116 to $51,209 annualized ($14.96 – $24.62 per hour)
Hiring Range: $14.96 – $15.41 per hour

After successful completion of an initial hire probationary period, eligible for a probationary period increase.
