Library Media Specialist – Bennett Elementary

TERM:

QUALIFICATIONS:

Current North Dakota Teaching License
K-12 Media Certification (LM02) or willingness to file a plan of study to complete

JOB SUMMARY:
Support teachers with the implementation of 21st Century Skills in their classrooms and provide leadership in ensuring that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information. Facilitate the creation of new knowledge both individually and collaboratively. The school library information specialist empowers students to be curious, creative and critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Guide students and assist educators to use a broad range of appropriate tools, resources and information technologies to interpret, evaluate, and use information in a variety of forms, including multimedia
• Promote reading across the curriculum.
• Provide students with group and individual instruction and resources that meet diverse learning needs, reflect current information pursuits, and incorporate changes in technology and education
• Teach and assess 21st Century Skills in collaboration with classroom teachers
• Instruct students in ethical and social responsibility with regard to intellectual property, equipment care, online safety, and appropriate network use
• Collaborate with educators and students to design, implement, and evaluate engaging inquiry-based learning experiences
• Engage in curricular leadership in the school through participation in school and district committees and staff development

SALARY:
2019/2020 Teacher’s Salary Schedule
