The Prescott Public Library is seeking an organized, energetic, and forward thinking professional leader to manage the library operations and to plan, direct and coordinate its programs of service.
Prescott, Wisconsin is located at the confluence of the Mississippi and St. Croix rivers and has a population of 4,300. Prescott offers small town living combined with the proximity to the Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN metropolitan areas. The Prescott Library serves the surrounding Wisconsin townships as well as the city and has a circulation of 60,000 items.
Responsibilities: The Library Director reports to a 7-member Board of Trustees and is responsible for the management of the library. The Library Director supervises a staff of 5 part-time employees. Essential duties include managing the library budget, overseeing the library’s ongoing collection of materials, and promoting the library and its programs and services to the community, with special interest in maintaining its popular children’s programs and expanding programs for patrons of all ages. This position will include some weeknight and/or weekend hours.
Qualifications: Candidates must be eligible for Grade 2 Wisconsin Public Librarian Certification. A Bachelor’s Degree is required; Masters in Library Science (MLS) is preferred and at least 4 years of experience in the field is preferred with a comprehensive knowledge of library services, principles, practices and procedures. Knowledge of current technology and library trends is desired. An ideal candidate will also possess effective oral and written communication skills and have excellent interpersonal skills.
Compensation: Salary range is dependent on education and experience and includes excellent benefits.
