General Duty Statement
Performs routine and repetitive clerical library work of limited complexity and variety; assists library customers, prepares library materials for use, and returns library materials to the proper location based on established classification systems. Assists other employees at circulation or information desks, and may be assigned to retrieve materials. Performs other related work as assigned.

INFORMATION ABOUT THE CURRENT OPENINGS:
The current openings are part-time positions and incumbents must be willing to work a flexible schedule; averaging 10-25 hours per week. Please note the Library schedule and hours of operation.
Monday – Thursday 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Friday – Saturday 9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Sunday 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

The primary duties consist of:
• Shelving books
• Providing verbal directions and instructions to patrons
• Sorting, filing, and replacing library materials alphabetically and numerically using call numbers
• Helping patrons log in to use library computers
• Loading, unloading, and transporting materials on a book cart
• Following procedures to create patron library cards and records
• Using Library computer systems to check materials in and out, and perform catalog maintenance
• Following verbal and written instructions
• Using copy machines and other office equipment

Requirements
Must be at least 16 years of age and able to read, write, speak, and understand English.

Selection Process Information
Written Knowledge Assessment: This assessment consists of multiple-choice questions in the Supplemental Questionnaire developed to assess your knowledge of alpha-numeric sorting. You must answer at least four out of six questions correctly and meet the minimum requirements to pass the assessment and be placed on the eligible list.

GENERAL INFORMATION:
Eligible lists created from Open Job Posting: This job posting is open to anyone who meets the position requirements. Non-promotional eligible lists typically are pass/fail and promotion eligible lists are typically ranked. Those who pass the assessment will be placed on an eligible list for approximately one year. If the open eligible list created contains a veteran, one open list will exist. If and when there are no veterans remaining on the eligible list (i.e. hired, withdrawn) from an open list that also contains promotional candidates, two lists will be created: one open list and one promotion list. If two lists exist, the promotion list must be exhausted before the open list is considered.

Final Selection Process:  A Hiring Manager will consider applicants placed on the list of eligible candidates. You will be notified if you are invited to participate in the final selection process which may include an interview, job simulation, work sample submission, or other evaluation method.
