About the Job

Overview
This Library Assistant 3 position provides program support within the Access and Information Services Department, specifically related to the Wilson Collaboration Studio and Undergraduate Services. This position provides leadership to the departments student workers and works with a team to design and implement successful training program as well as recruits and completes necessarily documentation to hire the student workers within the department. This position works with AIS staff to contribute to the overall goals of AIS.

Essential Functions
(50%) Research and Learning Program Support
Serves as the AIS Liaison to the Wilson Research Collaboration Studio, working with AIS Director, Managers and other departments to ensure cohesive, consistent user experience
Maintains awareness of and promotes evolving suite of specialized technology, “researcher support” tools, policies, trends and resources for the Wilson Collaboration studio
Provides administrative support for Undergraduate Services and the large First Year Writing Instruction program (including scheduling, email communication with instructors and students, gathering statistics, analyzing data, etc.)
Teaches basic information literacy sessions and act as a back up for sessions
Engages with undergraduate students about the U Libraries services, collections and tools in person, via social media, etc.

(25%) Student Supervision
Hires, train and supervise student workers for multiple functions/locations
Prepares work schedules and manages scheduling changes.
Monitors student work, provides appropriate feedback, and documents work-related issues.
Works with students to improve performance, resolves student personnel problems.
Develops effective communication mechanisms to ensure that students are aware of changes in policies and procedures.

(15%) Committee Work, Special Assignments & General Department Support
Staffs Wilson and Music Library service points.
Updates information on Wilson webpages as assigned.
Attends and participates in unit and departmental meetings and functions.
Develops and maintains familiarity with University and library resources, policies and procedures.
Keeps current with technological advances within University Libraries.
Learns new software and applies it to support library functions/activities.

Non‐Essential Functions
(10%) Committee Work, Special Assignments & General Department Support
Provides backup support as needed for other functional work or activities of the department.
Service on Libraries-wide groups and committees as assigned.
Contributes ideas for improving unit policies, procedures and services.
