Nature of Work
The Library Aide II – Desk Aide performs basic public service work in the Circulation Services Division. Work involves interpreting and following policies and procedures of the Circulation Services division as well as those of the other Library divisions while serving the public at all public service points. No supervision of others is required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Library Aide II – Desk Aide will be required to charge out and discharge materials. This individual is expected to respond to general information inquiries, answer the telephone and route calls appropriately. This individual will be asked to take in fees and payments and assist patrons in completing forms, reserving requests and using the on-line catalog and finding materials within the Circulation Services division. The Library Aide II – Desk Aide will be asked to accept other related tasks as assigned or delegated by a supervisor.
Education and Experience
High School diploma or equivalent GED
Experience with computer software and providing customer service required; library experience preferred.
