Library Acquisitions Manager, Carleton College – Library, Technical Services Department

The Library Acquisitions Manager is a member of Carleton’s Technical Services Department and contributes to accomplishing departmental objectives which include building a library collection that closely supports the college’s goal of academic excellence, acquiring needed resources in a timely and economical manner, and effectively organizing and presenting library collections.

The Library Acquisitions Manager directs all acquisitions operations and ensures timely processing of all order requests. Has a high level of personal contact and communication with faculty, staff, and external service providers on a regular basis.

This position works with counterparts at St. Olaf to manage, operate, and develop the shared ILS and pursue other initiatives. Participates in departmental, library, consortia, and college committees/meetings.

Carleton is a private liberal arts residential campus with nearly 2000 students and 800 faculty and staff. Carleton is located in Northfield, Minnesota, approximately 40 miles south of the Twin Cities. Northfield is a short commute from the metro that offers small town charm and big city opportunity.

The successful candidate should possess a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and have a minimum of two years’ experience working in a library or other highly relevant environment. Preferred skills include experience in acquiring library materials in all formats, including electronic resources.
