THE POSITION
The Anoka County Library has an immediate opening for a part-time Librarian (24 hours per week), who will assist library patrons with their information and readers’ advisory needs, provide classes and workshops for the public and share library resources with the community.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES (ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY)
Delivers consistent quality customer experience; Plans, conducts and evaluates classes and trainings for the public, both on and off site; Provides information to patrons in-person, by phone, and email; Performs simple to complex research activities; Assists patrons in identifying appropriate materials; locates materials through the use of resources at Anoka County Library, other library systems and other community resources; Instructs library patrons in using technology necessary to access library resources; Prepares and submits routine reports as necessary to supervisor; Participates in system-wide projects; May perform some circulation duties as needed at the service desk; May work as the person in charge of the branch or department for a limited time.

REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s Degree in Library Science or equivalent; prefer a Master’s Degree in Library Science; one to three years of related experience in a public library; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge of: Principles of efficient and effective customer service; Current public library practices, tools, methods and procedures; Publishing trends and reader’s advisory principles; Computers, technology and electronic devices with ability to perform troubleshooting tasks to assist patrons.

Ability to: Develop, present and evaluate classes, programs for all ages; Thrive working in an environment with public service to people from all backgrounds and age groups; Demonstrate a positive attitude, excellent interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity and a sense of humor in working with customers, coworkers and community; Creatively solve problems, negotiate and handle stressful situations in a positive manner; Multi-task and prioritize; Demonstrate innovation and flexibility.

Skill in: Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships, both in the library and in the community; Using and assisting customers with technology; Providing research assistance and instruction, readers and media advisory service to all ages.

Must successfully pass a criminal history check.
