LIBRARIAN II – BRANCH MANAGER
The Anoka County Library System connects the community to ideas, information and inspiration and has an immediate opening for an energetic, motivated, and creative Librarian II – Branch Manager. The Branch Manager supervises the operations of the St. Francis Library, reports to the Assistant Director, and is responsible for the smooth operation of the library building. This exempt leadership role manages staff and the overall service plan and operation of the branch library, including collection maintenance, services and programs, customer and community relations, outreach and developing partnerships, and overseeing the general maintenance and security of the library building and grounds. EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES (ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY)
These examples are not all inclusive and are intended to be illustrative of primary responsibilities of the Librarian II – Branch Manager.
• Supervises, trains and evaluates assigned personnel, while scheduling to ensure adequate staffing and maintaining accurate work records.
• Enforces established policies, rules and regulations, standards of conduct and work attendance.
• Answers reference and research questions, performs readers’ advisory services, instructs patrons on the use of library resources and technology.
• Recommends selection.
• Promotes community use of the library through outreach and other community contacts; develops, presents and evaluates library sponsored programs for all age groups.
• Directs and coordinates the activities of the branch in conjunction with the overall policy and regulations of the Library.
• Monitors maintenance of the building and assumes responsibility for reporting on general condition of the building and repairs.

REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree.
• One year (2,080 hours) of paid library experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to lift 30 lbs., stand, bend, stoop, reach and carry for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications
• Master of Library and Information Science degree from an ALA accredited library school or equivalent.
• 5 years related library experience.
• Supervisory/management experience.
• Public library experience.

Knowledge of: Best practices in supervision; principles and practices of library systems and programs; general subject areas and authors, books, readers’ interest, and reading levels.

Ability to: Deal tactfully and courteously with all ages of people in a public service; work well as both a team leader and a team member; apply common sense understanding to carry out written and oral instructions; read and comprehend documents, technical journals, and library policies; perform basic mathematical functions; design, develop, and proofread written and visual materials; express ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; effectively present information to other employees of the organization and to the public; work a varied schedule, including evenings and weekends, to attend meetings and events; and ability to lift 30 lbs., stand, bend, stoop, reach and carry for extended periods.

Skill in: Supervision; interpersonal communications; using and assisting with technology; providing research assistance and instruction, readers and media advisory service to all ages; advocating for public library services by engaging the community.

Must successfully pass a criminal history background check.

GRADE LEVEL
Anoka County Salary Schedule, Grade C012.
Normal hiring range: $48,422 – $49,875 ($23.28 – 23.98 per hour).
2018 full salary range: $48,422-$72,592 ($23.28 to $34.90 per hour).
Career potential up to $88,628.80 ($42.61 per hour).

After successful completion of an initial hire probationary period, eligible for a probationary period increase.

Hours
Full-time; 40 hours per pay week.
The schedule will include days, evenings and weekends.
