General Duty Statement
Performs entry level professional library work such as providing reference and referral services, cataloging and classifying materials, assisting library patrons in locating library materials and using the library catalog, and participating in the collection development and maintenance programs in accordance with Saint Paul Public Library. Acts as a resource for technology used by patrons and uses technology to complete work expectations, including online database searches. Utilizes community engagement methods to address individual patron and event participant needs. Performs other related duties and responsibilities as required.

Essential Functions are the functions that the individual holding the position must be able to perform unaided or with the assistance of a reasonable accommodation. The Essential Functions for this position are identified in the Supplemental Information of the Librarian I Job Description.

Libraries has one immediate opening, but additional future vacancies are anticipated during the length of this eligible list. The person holding this position must work some evenings and weekends. Please note the Library schedule and hours of operation.

Monday – Thursday – 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Friday – Saturday – 9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Sunday – 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Requirements
A bachelor’s degree and twenty-four credits in courses leading to an American Library Association (ALA) accredited Master’s Degree in Library Science.
