JOB TYPE: Probationary tenure-track faculty position, academic year and summer duty. Assignment to Academic rank will be commensurate with experience and education.

PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE POSITION: The Interlibrary Loan and Collection Management Librarian is primarily responsible for planning, developing, and implementing resource sharing services, and overseeing the stewardship of the collections for the A.C. Clark Library. In addition, the Interlibrary Loan and Collection Management Librarian will share in professional duties performed by all library faculty. The successful candidate will be a motivated, team-oriented individual with a broad experience of academic librarianship and resource sharing.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee Interlibrary Loan services with a focus on facilitating resource sharing.
  • Participate in the assessment and analysis of workflows, automation tools, and library services platforms as part of evolving needs in ILL; provide leadership in evaluating, recommending, and implementing new technologies and service models.
  • Oversee the library’s physical collections, and develop, implement, and evaluate policies and procedures as necessary to ensure appropriate access to, and effective stewardship of, collection material, including the University Archives.
  • Participate in reference, instruction, and library collection development through departmental liaison duties.
  • Participate in library governance.
  • Participate in University-wide collegial and professional activities, as identified in the IFO/MnSCU Master Agreement.
  • Initiate and administer special projects to accomplish collection-related priorities and goals.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum:

  • Master of Library and Information Science or Master of Library Science from an ALA-accredited program (second Master’s degree in a subject specialty required for tenure).  Experience with ILL/Resource sharing processes in an academic environment.
  • Two (2) years of professional experience in an academic library.
  • Knowledge of current issues and trends in collection stewardship.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively to meet department goals.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Preferred:

  • The applicant should demonstrate a knowledge of and interest in diverse cultures and populations.
  • Proven ability to successfully provide leadership and work direction for workflow and project management.
  • Experience with Ex Libris Aleph or Alma.
  • Experience with digital archives.
