Starting hourly rate: $26.05 – $27.39

The Job

Assists the Registration Department’s registrars with cataloging works of art, inventories of collections, and effecting the movement of works of art within the museum.

In this role, you will…

· Catalogue works of art (tag, describe, measure, and complete condition report) as directed by the registrars.

· Enter catalogue information into the collections management database, and generate related legal paperwork based on project needs.

· Take digital images of works of art; upload images into digital asset management system and enter related metadata in image files.

· Conduct inventories of galleries and art storage spaces as directed by the registrars; verify and update locations and document the inventory in collections management database.

· Produce location change paperwork to move works of art within the museum.

· Catalogue unidentified objects found in the collection and enter information into collections management database.

You enjoy organizing complex projects. You excel at accuracy in very detailed work. You are flexible and can easily shift from working on a solo project to assisting your coworkers when a team approach is needed. You willingly pitch in where needed to meet deadlines.

Specific Requirements

· B.A. in Art History or Museum Studies, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

· One to two years museum registration or related experience; condition reporting and art handling experience preferred.

· Strong organizational skills.

· Demonstrated proficiency with word processing/PCs including familiarity with collections database programs TMS (The Museum System) a plus.

· Accurate keyboarding skills.

· Ability to multitask and prioritize with high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills.
