Education and Social Sciences Librarian position

The University of St. Thomas invites qualified candidates to apply for an Education and Social Sciences Librarian position.

The Education and Social Sciences librarian will serve as library liaison to the education, leadership and counseling programs administered by the College of Education, Leadership and Counseling, including ED.D and Psy.D. programs. The College is based at the downtown Minneapolis campus of the University of St. Thomas.  Essential functions include collection management/development (including the K-12 Curriculum and Hubbs Children’s Literature collections), library use instruction, research assistance, and general reference.

Minimum qualifications: MLS from an accredited Library school or equivalent degree required. Academic library experience required.

Preferred qualifications: Degree in social sciences is preferred.   Previous experience in education, including K-12 classroom experience preferred.

Knowledge of: Demonstrated knowledge of education and social sciences resources and methodologies. Collection management and development.  Best practices related to library use and instruction. Current use of ACRL IL framework and guidelines.

Skills:  Strong interpersonal skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, and a user-focused commitment.  Developing and delivering workshops, training documents, and user guides related to research skills.

Abilities:  A strong service orientation and the ability to work cooperatively in an environment requiring flexibility and innovation. The ability to maintain effective relationships with the diverse constituencies of university – faculty, students and staff.  The ability to empathize and engage successfully with a wide spectrum of student abilities and experiences.
